Hey , I'm Clarin.
The face behind Clarin Joy Photo.
I have always been creative.
When I was younger, I told everyone I wanted to be an artist when I grow up. I took art lessons and music lessons and a WILD imagination.
I wrote my first short story at the age of six about a family of flowers. I went to college pursuing a music degree, but somewhere along the way I discovered a new creative desire; to create safe spaces and opportunities for people. I graduated with a degree in Political Science and Women's Studies and eventually found myself as a Peace Corps Volunteer with my husband, Nick. ( We served in the beautiful country of eSwatini from 2016-2018).
There are two equally as important parts of me. One part of me has a deep desire to work with people, pursuing social justice and equality. The other part of me has a deep desire to create artistically. It seems I cannot have one without the other. They both are a part of who I am and what I am about. So, here I am. Working full time for a job I love, working with women experiencing homelessness in Spokane, WA. All the while, serving my photography clients by helping to capture their lives, love, etc. Both are important to me and I desire to do both to the best of my abilities.
I would love to talk about any and all aspects of my life with you! Whether it be about my Peace Corps experience, my work here in Spokane, or your photography needs. Let's chat and make it happen! I'M HERE FOR IT!
In 2019, I opened up THE NOW NOW space, a creative space in downtown Spokane, WA. You can check it out at nownowspace.com!
If you can't find me, I'm probably:
- on the dance floor
- in the photo booth
- trying to find a lime to go in my diet coke
- planning the next occasion where matching outfits are necessary
I GET IT.
